A “split system” simply means that a home’s heating and cooling systems are “split” both inside and outside your home. In most cases, a split system will consist of the following parts.
- Gas Furnace – Provides heating white also circulating air year round through a blower motor
- Evaporator coil – The indoor part of the outdoor AC unit that chills the warm air
- Air conditioner or Heat Pump – Works with the evaporator coil to cool the home
- Air Ducts ― Distributes the conditioned air throughout your home through air ducts and returns
- Control or Thermostat ― The brains and control point of the HVAC system
- Indoor Air Quality Accessories ― Designed to purify, humidify, and freshen the air for a healthier indoor environment, they include air filtration, humidifiers and dehumidifiers.
